(For those brave enough to seize it)
UNTITLED # 3,551,622
I
(Protasis)
Ancient tales wove into the fabric of sentient thought
Good and Evil - -Creation and Destruction- - Action and Yielding
Archaic symbols ingrained into consumables either sold or bought
Lo, behold the fictitious state; behind laws ever shielding
On the fringe I found a monkey
II
(Epitasis)
Monkey
the old trickster of Eastern folklore
mischievous and troublesome relic
I adore
“Drunkest drives,” he says and pours another drink
aberrant monkey – smiles – pours more; no time to think
The monkey does flips - - Cute tricks
Our laughter carries the cadence of symphonic flux
All hours the neighbors scream; they’re driven nuts
They are Black and White, and call the law in vain
The iridescent monkey’s knowledge: never ascertained
Red and Blue lights
break men of ilk most resilient
The primate revels
in their radiant pulsing brilliance
III
(Catastrophe)
- - The sun rises to give - -
Our laughter carries on
- - Terrified mail-ladies and garbage men - -
Oh, decorous monkey, I adore
those old tales forgotten hereinafter
To every man, woman, and child, I do implore
the monkey’s lesson of fearless laughter
